Morso 7893 Cast Iron Stove with High Log Store
Morso 7893 is a freestanding cast iron stove from the Danish brand Morso with a nominal output of 7.3 kW, sized for rooms of up to 120 m². In this version the tall base holds a large stack of firewood. Thermal efficiency is 79 %, energy class A.
The body weighs 178 kg and is made entirely of cast iron. Cast iron heats up more slowly than steel but keeps releasing heat long after the fire has burnt down — the room temperature does not swing between refuellings. A large panoramic pane gives a wide view of the firebox. The model meets Ecodesign requirements and the criteria of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.

The high log store
The stove stands on a tall base with a log store deeper than the standard version. The firebox sits higher as a result, so the fire is clearly visible when you are standing in the room, not only when seated. This is the option for people who would rather not refill the wood stack every evening.
Is 7.3 kW enough for my house?
The model is rated for roughly 120 m² with standard insulation and a ceiling height of 2.5–2.7 m. In a poorly insulated building, one with large glazed areas or a higher ceiling, the real figure will be lower — in that case pick the next power class up. An oversized stove is just as troublesome, though: for most of the season it runs on a low flame, which soots up the glass and the flue faster.
Will it work in a house with heat recovery ventilation?
Yes. The stove has a factory external combustion air supply, so it does not draw air from the room and does not compete with mechanical ventilation for it. The spigot is led out at the rear or underneath the body. In an airtight building this is a condition of correct operation — without its own air supply, ventilation can reverse the flue draught.

What fuel should be used?
The fuel is seasoned hardwood with a moisture content of up to 20 %. Wet wood gives noticeably less heat, smokes up the glass and speeds up soot deposits in the flue. Chipboard, painted or impregnated timber and waste must not be burnt in this stove — they shorten the life of the cast iron and void the warranty.
