KAWMET Premium PROMETEUS S11 ECO is a wood-burning freestanding stove from the Polish foundry KAWMET with a nominal output of 8.5 kW, sized for rooms of up to 85 m² (up to 213 m³). A flat front pane shows the firebed head-on. Thermal efficiency is 76 %, energy class A.
The construction weighing 90 kg is cast iron throughout — a material chosen for durability, since it is what sits in direct contact with the embers. Cast iron heats up more slowly than steel, but the difference pays off in the evening: once the last load has burnt through, the body keeps radiating stored heat for hours. Fins on the outer walls and a vermiculite baffle above the firebed carry into the room the energy that would otherwise go up the flue.

PROMETEUS S11 belongs to the KAWMET Premium ECO range — freestanding stoves in which the cast iron body is also a decorative object. Every model in the line carries a name from mythology and has its own casting form; what they share is solid cast iron, a secondary combustion system and compliance with Ecodesign requirements.
Cast iron behaves differently from steel in a freestanding stove: it heats up more slowly, but once the fire is out it keeps releasing stored heat for hours. In practice that means less refuelling in the evening and a warmer morning.
Is 8.5 kW enough to heat my house?
The model is rated for roughly 85 m² with standard insulation and a ceiling height of 2.5–2.7 m. In a poorly insulated building, one with large glazed areas or a higher ceiling, the real figure will be lower. Oversizing is harmful too, however: for most of the season the appliance then runs on a low flame, which soots up the glass and the flue faster.
Does it need an external air supply?
This model has no factory external air spigot — combustion air is taken from the room. In an airtight house with mechanical ventilation this means a separate air inlet to the room has to be provided; agree the solution with your installer before buying. If an external air supply is a requirement for you, choose a model that lists this function in its specifications.
What chimney and space does the stove require?
A flue of Ø130 mm (125/139), with the outlet at the top or rear. The stove measures 566 × 599 × 433 mm (W × H × D) and weighs 90 kg. Required clearances to walls and combustible materials are given in the manufacturer's manual, available in the documents section on this page.
What fuel should be used?
The fuel is seasoned hardwood with a moisture content of up to 20 %. The maximum log length is 400 mm. Wet wood gives noticeably less heat, smokes up the glass and speeds up soot deposits in the flue. Chipboard, painted or impregnated timber and waste must not be burnt — they shorten the life of the cast iron and void the warranty.
