Morso 3116 Cast Iron Stove on Legs
Morso 3116 is a freestanding cast iron stove from the Danish brand Morso with a nominal output of 5.6 kW, sized for rooms of up to 90 m². In this version the body stands on four cast iron legs. Thermal efficiency is 81 %, energy class A+.
The body weighs 94.5 kg and is made entirely of cast iron. Cast iron heats up more slowly than steel but keeps releasing heat long after the fire has burnt down — the room temperature does not swing between refuellings. A flat front pane shows the firebox head-on. The model meets Ecodesign requirements.

Version on legs — the body raised off the floor
The stove rests on four cast iron legs. The raised body makes the stove look lighter and lets you vacuum underneath without moving tens of kilograms of cast iron. This is the most classic mounting option — it suits traditional and modern interiors alike.
Is 5.6 kW enough for my house?
The model is rated for roughly 90 m² with standard insulation and a ceiling height of 2.5–2.7 m. In a poorly insulated building, one with large glazed areas or a higher ceiling, the real figure will be lower — in that case pick the next power class up. An oversized stove is just as troublesome, though: for most of the season it runs on a low flame, which soots up the glass and the flue faster.
Will it work in a house with heat recovery ventilation?
Yes. The stove has a factory external combustion air supply, so it does not draw air from the room and does not compete with mechanical ventilation for it. In an airtight building this is a condition of correct operation — without its own air supply, ventilation can reverse the flue draught.
What chimney and space does the stove need?
A flue of Ø120 mm, with the outlet at the top or rear. The stove measures 514 × 739 × 512 mm (W × H × D) and weighs 94.5 kg — check the load capacity of the floor before installation. Required clearances to walls and combustible materials are given in the manufacturer's manual, available in the documents section on this page.
What fuel should be used?
The fuel is seasoned hardwood with a moisture content of up to 20 %. Wet wood gives noticeably less heat, smokes up the glass and speeds up soot deposits in the flue. Chipboard, painted or impregnated timber and waste must not be burnt in this stove — they shorten the life of the cast iron and void the warranty.
